This guide covers the day-to-day process of redeeming Comeback Cash coupons at the register and using the reports dashboard to track your program's performance. Whether you are processing a coupon at the POS or reviewing campaign results, this article has you covered.

Redeeming Coupons at the Register

Accessing the Redemption Panel

Open the Redemption tab from the Comeback Cash section in the Workspace. The panel is designed for speed and works with barcode scanners as well as manual code entry.

How to Redeem a Coupon

  1. Click into the Enter or scan coupon code... field (it auto-focuses when you open the tab)

  2. Scan the barcode on the printed coupon, or type the 8-character code manually (hyphens are optional -- ABCD-EF12 and ABCDEF12 both work)

  3. Click Validate or press Enter

The system will look up the coupon and display one of the following results:

Validation Results

Result

What It Means

What to Do

Valid Coupon (green check)

Coupon is active, not expired, and ready to use

Review the details, then click Redeem Coupon

Already Redeemed (yellow warning)

This coupon was previously used

Inform the customer. Shows who redeemed it and when. Click Try Another Code

Coupon Expired (red calendar)

The redemption period has passed

Inform the customer their coupon is no longer valid. Click Try Another Code

Not Yet Valid (yellow clock)

The redemption period has not started yet

Tell the customer the date they can start using the coupon. Click Try Another Code

Invalid Coupon (red X)

Code not found in the system

Ask the customer to double-check the code. Click Try Again

Valid Coupon Details

When a coupon validates successfully, you will see:

  • Coupon Value -- The dollar amount of the discount (e.g., "$30.00")

  • Customer Name -- The name associated with the coupon (if available)

  • Expiration Date -- When the coupon expires

  • Event Name -- Which promotional event issued this coupon

Minimum Purchase Requirement

If the event has a minimum purchase requirement, the system will display it:

Minimum purchase required: $60.00

You must enter the Current Transaction Amount to verify the customer's purchase meets the minimum before the Redeem Coupon button becomes active.

Completing the Redemption

  1. Review the coupon details and confirm they are correct

  2. If a minimum purchase applies, enter the current transaction total in the Current Transaction Amount field

  3. Click Redeem Coupon

  4. The screen displays a confirmation with the discount amount applied and a transaction ID

  5. Click Redeem Another to process the next coupon, or return to the Events tab

Tip: The coupon code lookup is case-insensitive and ignores hyphens. Whether the customer gives you abcd-ef12, ABCDEF12, or Abcd-EF12, it all works the same.

Today's Redemptions

Below the redemption input, a Today's Redemptions table shows all coupons redeemed during the current day. This provides a quick reference showing the time, code, customer name, value, and which team member processed each redemption.

POS System Integration

For stores with POS integration, coupons can be issued and redeemed automatically through the POS API without using the workspace panel. The POS system communicates with BuyerKiosk using four API endpoints:

Endpoint

Purpose

GET /settings

Fetches active event configuration for the POS to display

POST /coupons

Issues a coupon when a qualifying transaction is completed

GET /coupons/{code}

Validates a coupon code before redemption

POST /redeem

Processes the redemption and records the audit trail

The POS API supports partial redemptions (using only part of a coupon's value) and is idempotent -- sending the same transaction ID twice returns the existing coupon rather than creating a duplicate.

Tip: POS integration is authenticated via API key. Contact your BuyerKiosk administrator if your POS system needs to be connected.

Reports Dashboard

The Reports view gives you full visibility into how your Comeback Cash campaigns are performing.

Accessing Reports

  • Admin: Open the Reports tab on the Comeback Cash Management page

  • Workspace: Click the Reports tab in the Comeback Cash section

Filtering Report Data

Use the filter controls at the top of the reports panel:

Filter

Options

Select Event

Choose a specific event or "All Events"

From date

Start of the date range

To date

End of the date range

Click Apply to load the filtered data.

Summary Statistics

Four primary metrics appear at the top of every report:

Metric

What It Shows

Coupons Issued

Total number of coupons generated across selected events/dates

Coupons Redeemed

How many of those coupons have been used

Redemption Rate

Percentage of issued coupons that were redeemed (Redeemed / Issued)

Total Value Redeemed

Dollar amount of all redemptions combined

Additional Metrics

Below the primary stats, three more cards provide deeper insight:

Metric

What It Shows

Avg Coupon Value

Average dollar value per coupon issued

Outstanding Coupons

Number of issued coupons that have not been redeemed or expired yet

Outstanding Value

Total dollar value of unredeemed, still-valid coupons (your potential liability)

Tip: Keep an eye on Outstanding Value -- this represents potential discounts that could still be redeemed. A high outstanding value near the end of a redemption period may indicate customers need a reminder.

Redemption History Table

The detailed table at the bottom lists every individual redemption with these columns:

Column

Description

Date/Time

When the coupon was redeemed

Code

The coupon code (displayed as XXXX-XXXX)

Customer

Customer name associated with the coupon

Event

Which promotional event the coupon belongs to (color-coded by side: blue for buy, orange for sales)

Value

Dollar amount of the redemption

Transaction

The transaction total at the time of redemption

Employee

Team member who processed the redemption

Exporting Data

Click Export CSV to download the current filtered view as a CSV file. This is useful for:

  • Sharing results with store owners

  • Importing into spreadsheets for further analysis

  • Keeping records for accounting purposes

Refreshing Data

Click Refresh to reload the report data without changing your filters. Useful if redemptions are happening in real time and you want the latest numbers.

Troubleshooting

"Minimum purchase not met"

The customer's transaction total is below the event's minimum purchase requirement. The required amount is displayed on screen -- the customer needs to add more items to their purchase.

Coupon code not found

  • Verify the code was entered correctly (check for similar-looking characters)

  • The code may belong to a different store location

  • The coupon may have been voided by an administrator

Coupon shows as expired but should be valid

All coupons expire at store close on the last day of the redemption period. If it is the day after the redemption end date, the coupon is expired. Check the event's redemption end date in the Events tab.
