Comeback Cash is a promotional coupon system that rewards customers with discount coupons when they complete transactions at your store. You can create events that issue coupons on the "Buy Side" (when customers sell items to your store) or "Sales Side" (when customers purchase from your store), then redeem those coupons later to drive repeat business.

Why Use Comeback Cash?
If you've ever shopped at Kohl's, you're already familiar with this concept—Comeback Cash works just like Kohl's Cash. Customers earn coupons during a promotional "earning period" and then must return to redeem them during a separate "redemption period." This proven retail strategy accomplishes two key goals:
1. Drive Average Transaction Value (ATV) During Events
When customers know they're earning comeback cash on their purchases or trade-ins, they're motivated to increase their transaction size. A customer who might have sold only a few items will bring in more inventory to maximize their coupon earning. Similarly, buyers will add items to their cart knowing they'll earn rewards.
2. Bring Customers Back During Slower Periods
The real magic happens when customers return to redeem their coupons. By strategically setting your redemption period to coincide with traditionally slower business periods (mid-week, post-holiday lulls, seasonal slow times), you create a built-in traffic driver. Customers who earned coupons during your busy event MUST return during your slow period to use them—and they rarely leave spending just the coupon amount.
Pro Tip: Schedule your earning period during naturally busy times (weekends, sales events, back-to-school) and set redemption to begin the week after. This creates consistent foot traffic when you'd otherwise see a post-event slump.

Creating a Comeback Cash Event
Step 1: Choose Event Type
Click + Create Event to open the event wizard.
Choose between Buy Side or Sales Side events.
Select your event type:
Buy Side - Reward customers when they sell items to your store. Every qualifying transaction automatically earns a coupon. Simple setup with flat coupon values.
Sales Side - Reward customers when they purchase items from your store. Offers advanced options including tiered rewards and percentage-based coupons.
Step 2: Configure Event Details
Set your event name, coupon value, and minimum purchase requirements.
Configure your event:
Field | Description |
Event Name | A descriptive name (e.g., "Summer Savings", "Back to School") |
Coupon Value | The dollar amount customers receive (e.g., $30 off) |
Minimum Purchase to Redeem | Optional requirement when using the coupon (e.g., $60 minimum) |
Tip: Setting a minimum purchase encourages larger transactions. For example, "$30 off a $60 purchase" means customers must spend at least $60 to use their coupon.
Step 3: Set the Schedule
Configure earning and redemption periods.
Set your event timeline:
Earning Period:
First Day to Earn - When coupons start being issued
Last Day to Earn - Final day customers can earn coupons
Redemption Period:
First Day to Redeem - When customers can start using coupons (typically the day after earning ends)
Last Day to Redeem - Expiration date for all coupons
Notification Options:
✅ Print coupon - Automatically prints a physical coupon at the POS
✅ Send SMS - Sends the coupon code via text message to the customer
Note: All dates are inclusive. If earning ends August 30, customers can earn coupons through store close on August 30.
