What Is the Workbook?

The Workbook is the main daily-use screen in BuyerKiosk. It combines your buy queue, task management, notes, team schedule, backstock summary, and whiteboard into a single dashboard. Think of it as your store's digital command center -- everything you need to run the day is in one place, without switching between pages.

How to Access the Workbook

Navigate to the workspace using your store's URL:

https://app.buyerkiosk.com/{your-store-code}/workbook/

For example, if your store code is ou00, you would go to:

https://app.buyerkiosk.com/ou00/workbook/

You can also reach it from the Queue page by clicking Workbook in the left sidebar.

Sidebar Navigation

The left sidebar is your main navigation tool. It has two sections:

Quick Actions (Top Section)

These are one-tap buttons for the most common tasks:

How the Single-Page Layout Works

The workspace uses a single-page application (SPA) design. This means that when you click between Queue, Workbook, Completed Buys, and Buy Log, the page does not fully reload. Instead, it smoothly switches between views. This keeps things fast and means you will not lose your place.

Key behaviors:

  • URL updates automatically -- if you bookmark or share the URL, it will open to the correct view

  • Browser back/forward buttons work -- you can navigate between views using your browser's navigation

  • Direct links work -- you can go directly to /{store-code}/completed/ or /{store-code}/printLog/ and it will load the right view

  • Real-time connection stays active -- the live connection to the server persists as you switch between views, so queue updates keep flowing

Workbook Panel Layout

The Workbook view is organized into a configurable grid of panels:

Row 1: Tasks + Notes

  • Today's Tasks (left) -- Your daily task checklist with progress tracking

  • Notes (right) -- Team notes and communications for the day

Row 2: Schedule + Backstock

  • Schedule (left) -- Who is working today, with shift times and a refresh button

  • Backstock (right) -- Quick summary of backstock bins with a search field

Row 3: Whiteboard

  • Whiteboard (full width) -- A shared drawing/annotation board for the team

Panel Controls

Every panel has controls in its header:

Workbook Header Controls

At the top of the Workbook view you will find:

  • Reset Layout -- Restores all panels to their default arrangement

  • Connection Status -- A small colored dot indicating your real-time sync status (green = connected, red = disconnected)

Tips for Daily Use

  1. Start your day on the Workbook -- Check your tasks, read the notes, and review who is scheduled

  2. Switch to Queue when customers arrive -- The queue view gives you all the tools for processing buys

  3. Use the Buy Log at end of day -- Review timing stats and print the daily summary for your records

  4. Keep the sidebar collapsed on tablets -- This gives you more screen real estate for the active view
